Three Wellington based contractors have been shortlisted for the work on the $100 million plus Wakefield Hospital redevelopment and will go through a thorough evaluation process before being selected. They are Hawkins Construction, Arrow Construction and Naylor Love.
Premium patient rooms, all with their own bathrooms, luxury design elements, hotel-like finishes, abundant natural light, undercover drop off and onsite parking all feature in the plans that have an emphasis on patient privacy and comfort."
The state of the art facility will include six new extra-large digital operating theatres, a cardiac catheterisation lab and endoscopy theatre to accommodate surgical demand in the region. All will be fitted with 4k Ultra High Definition capability and showcase the very latest technologies.
Dr Coleman said: “The redevelopment of Wakefield Hospital will offer New Zealander’s access to some of the most advanced private medical services and treatment in the country.”
“Importantly, this feature means the new hospital will be one of the safest buildings in the region,” Dr Coleman said.
“Wakefield Hospital will be built to a standard that will protect the lives of patients and staff if an earthquake occurs, but it also means the hospital will be able to continue to function after an earthquake.”
Construction of the new hospital will be built in stages and will allow for all facilities and services to remain operational and the provision of health services to the community to continue throughout the entire build period.
